Russia Expert Anna Borshchevskaya Named Ira Weiner Fellow at The Washington Institute
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Anna Borshchevskaya has been named the Ira Weiner Fellow at The Washington Institute for Near East Policy, the research organization announced today. A leading expert on Russian foreign policy, her work will focus on the country’s diplomatic, economic, and cultural approach in the Middle East.
“We are delighted that Anna will bring her expertise to bear on The Washington Institute’s goal of advancing security and peace in the Middle East,” said Executive Director Robert Satloff, who is also the Institute’s Howard P. Berkowitz Chair in U.S. Middle East Policy. “Understanding Russia’s Middle East policy is essential to defining a coherent and effective U.S. strategy for the region.”
In addition to her role at the Institute, Ms. Borshchevskaya is currently a fellow at the European Foundation for Democracy and was previously with the Peterson Institute for International Economics and the Atlantic Council. Her analysis has been published widely in journals such as The New Criterion, Turkish Policy Quarterly, and the Middle East Quarterly. She also conducts translation and analysis for the U.S. Army's Foreign Military Studies Office and its flagship publication, Operational Environment Watch, and writes a foreign affairs column for Forbes.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with The Washington Institute’s world-class team of experts. I look forward to contributing to its well-deserved reputation of excellence,” said Borshchevskaya.
Originally from Moscow, Ms. Borshchevskaya came to the United States as a refugee in 1993 and has since received an MA in international relations from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a BA in political science and international relations from the State University of New York at Geneseo.
