Washington Institute Mourns American Diplomats Killed in Libya
The Washington institute extends its deepest condolences to the family and colleagues of Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith, and two additional U.S. personnel who were killed during an attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi.
Each of these individuals served America with distinction in a difficult and chaotic environment. We are saddened by their loss and honor their memory.
Ambassador Stevens was a personal friend and colleague of several Institute staff members. He is remembered as a warm and caring friend, as well as a dedicated and innovative foreign service officer. His work will always be a source of inspiration.
