Antonia Ruiz Jimenez is a visiting fellow in The Washington Institute's Turkish Research Program and a professor of sociology at Pablo de Olavide University in Seville, Spain. She received her doctorate in political science and administration from the Autònoma University of Madrid. She has studied the introduction of gender policies in conservative political parties and the mechanisms of change in political parties as well as public opinion and EU-related issues.
Dr. Ruiz Jimenez has been an invited researcher at the Institute of Social Science at the University of Lisbon in Portugal, Essex University in the United Kingdom, Harvard University, the Center for European Studies of the University of Miami, and the Center for European Studies at Carleton University in Ottawa.
At The Washington Institute, Dr. Ruiz Jiminez will examine popular attitudes in Europe toward Turkey's EU accesion.
