Jessica Tuchman Matthews is president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and a former director of the Council on Foreign Relations Washington office. Her career has included service in both the executive and legislative branches of government, including posts as director of the Office of Global Issues at the National Security Council and deputy undersecretary of state for global affairs.
