Michael Hayden, a retired U.S. Air Force general, was director of the Central Intelligence Agency from 2006-2009 and previously the director of the National Security Agency from 1999-2005. General Hayden was a 2018 recipient of The Washington Institute's Scholar-Statesman Award.
