Nahid Kalbasi is an adjunct faculty at Northcentral University, where she teaches business research and economics. She received her PhD in economics from George Mason University in 2003 with majors in macroeconomics and international finance. A former economist at the Central Bank of Iran and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, she taught for more than six years as an assistant professor at Azad University in Tehran. In all, she has more than twenty years' experience in the Middle Eastern banking, financial, and industry sector. She also served as a consultant at the World Bank in 2009 and at the Heritage Foundation in Washington from 2011 through 2013.
Professor Kalbasi has published several articles in refereed journals across different disciplines, including economic growth, monetary policy, and international finance. Her papers on the housing market have appeared in the International Business Times, among other journals. In 2008, she had the honor of receiving an outstanding research award from the Institute for Business and Finance Research for a paper on how sanctions have affected Iran's economy.
