Nathan Sales is the ambassador-at-large and coordinator for counterterrorism at the State Department. A tenured law professor, he previously served as deputy assistant secretary for policy at the Department of Homeland Security, where he led efforts to strengthen and expand the Visa Waiver Program. He also worked on counterterrorism policy in the Justice Department's Office of Legal Policy.
