P. J. Dermer is a retired Army colonel who served multiple tours in the Middle East, including two in Iraq. He participated in standing up both civil and defense institutions in Iraq and served as the senior military advisor for reconciliation and to Iraqi forces in Baghdad in 2008. Since retiring from the military, he has worked in Iraq in private business development and consulting.
