In-Depth Reports
The Palestinian uprising in the occupied territories has undermined the status quo that Israel has tried to preserve in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In so doing, the uprising has created an opportunity for the parties to resume the peace process and re-examine a number of basic premises. Like the situation after the October 1973 war, conditions exist that make possible a series of interim agreements toward a peace treaty between Israel and the Palestinians.
In this Policy Paper, Ze’ev Schiff gauges Israel’s fundamental security requirements in the event that Israelis and Palestinians meet at the bargaining table.
