On October 5, 2010, The Washington Institute honored the Right Honorable Tony Blair with its 2010 Scholar-Statesman Award at a gala dinner in New York City.
Tony Blair was elected prime minister of the United Kingdom in 1997 and served in that position for more than a decade. In that time he stood "shoulder to shoulder" with Americans in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. After leaving government in 2007, he was appointed Quartet Middle East peace envoy.
