His most recent publications include two Washington Institute studies coauthored or coedited with Michael Eisenstadt: The Last Resort: Consequences of Preventive Military Action against Iran (2008) and Deterring the Ayatollahs: Complications in Applying Cold War Strategy to Iran (2007).
John Hannah is a senior fellow at The Washington Institute, focusing on U.S. Middle East strategy. A senior foreign policy practitioner in both Republican and Democratic administrations, he served most recently as national security advisor to Vice President Richard Cheney.
