Sudani Brings Advisors to London Who Support Terrorism and Call for Attacks on U.S.-Led Coalition Forces
Advisors linked to Asaib Ahl al-Haq and Kataib Hezbollah were among Sudani's London delegation
In mid-January, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani made an official visit to the United Kingdom. His delegation included at least three individuals linked to Iran-backed militias. Among them was Rabee Nader, the head of communications in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), who has historical ties to U.S.-designated terrorist groups Asaib Ahl al-Haq (AAH) and Kataib Hezbollah (Figure 1).
Nader was previously denied a U.S. visa to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September 2023.
The second militia-linked figure is Emad al-Mosafer (also known as Emad Aal Mosafer), a commentator notorious for his aggressive rhetoric and ties to militias. He was part of the PM’s delegation and participated in various activities in London (Figure 2).
Mosafer has openly advocated for attacks against coalition forces in Iraq, which include UK personnel. On May 3, 2023, he appeared on Zagros TV and declared, “We will take revenge on America, its agents, and its tools.” He also incited violence against former Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, stating, “If we had caught Mustafa al-Kadhimi, we would have cut his ears.” (Figure 3). (This cutting-off of parts of the ear was a notorious Saddam-era punishment intended to humiliate deserters and other criminals.)
Among numerous pro-muqawama and pro-terrorism comments, Mosafer has voiced support for Houthi attacks against Israel. On October 31, 2023, he wrote on his X account, "The Yemeni strikes directed deep into the Zionist entity show that the heroes in Yemen pose a great danger to this entity and that the war launched by Saudi Arabia and its coalition was on behalf of the Zionists." (Figure 4).
Similarly, Salam Adil, another militia-linked commentator, was part of Sudani’s delegation (Figure 2). Adil too is a key figure in the muqawama's vast propaganda machine. In one of his numerous pro-terrorism remarks, he advocated for Iraqis to launch attacks against Israel. On September 24, 2024, he appeared on U.S.-designated terrorist organization AAH’s al-Ahd TV to support the Iraqi muqawama attacks against Israel. He stated: “It is our obligation to take up arms to support our brothers in Lebanon and Palestine … Only the vile people are against the axis of resistance, which is working towards ending this usurping, sick, and criminal entity (Israel).” (Figure 5).
