Watch a senior Treasury Department official's discussion of his department's response to the Middle East revolutions of 2011.
On December 2, 2011, Daniel L. Glaser, the assistant secretary for terrorist financing in the Treasury Department's Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, addressed a special Policy Forum at the Institute, where he discussed how the department has played a key role in America's response to this year's Middle Eastern revolutions. From targeting Qadhafi regime finances, to preventing the flight of state assets stolen by deposed dictators in Tunisia and Egypt, to imposing sanctions on the Syrian government for suppression of human rights, Treasury has taken proactive measures to advance U.S. interests amid turbulent times.
